Tasty Teasers!
I decided to look at my hometown newspaper, The News Journal, to see the front page on newseum.org.
Before I even got to the centerpiece I noticed how creative the teasers were. I think this is the best example of teasers that I have seen this semester. The cookies story immediately caught my eye with the two cookies forming the o's in the word. Aside from that, the picture of Brian Westbrook jumping over the word "Journal" is also very eye catching. It look as if he is almost jumping off the page towards the reader.
These two exciting and creative teasers also have very good placement in my opinion. It puts the teaser with no graphic in the middle, so that the exciting teasers box it in making the reader read it because it is smack in the middle of the two eye catching ones. I think this is excellent placement because while the other two teaser stories are more creative, the one in the middle about the banks is the most relevant story to the average Delaware reader. You might be want to read about Christmas cookies and the Pro Bowl, but the other story the reader may need to read because it directly effects them.
Do you like these teasers and how they are placed? Another reason I thought these teasers were so creative is perhaps maybe they had to be because the centerpiece doesn't seem to be that exciting or eye catching to the page. What do you think? Do you think the teasers are attractive to draw more attention to the page, or is it just luck they happened to fall on a day with a not so exciting centerpiece?
